چکیده
Received 24 February 1995 Revised version accepted for publication 25 May 1995 Abstract This report describes a 12 year 10 month old girl with short stature and a non-mosaic 46,X,Xp + karyotype. Her height remained below -2 SD of the mean, and her predicted adult height (143 cm) was below her target height (155.5 cm) and target range (147-5 cm-163-5 cm). Cytogenetic and molecular studies showed that the Xp + chromosome was formed by an inverted duplication ofthe Xp2l.3-Xp22.33 segment and was missing about 700 kb of DNA from the pseudoautosomal region distal to DXYS 15. The results provide further support for the previously proposed hypothesis that the region between DXYS20 and DXYS15 is the critical region for a pseudoautosomal growth gene(s).

Chromosomal localisation of a pseudoautosomal growth gene(s).
Although recent molecular studies in patients with sex chromosome aberrations are consistent with a growth gene(s) being present in the pseudoautosomal region (PAR), the precise location has not been determined. In this report, we describe a Japanese boy and his mother with an interstitial deletion in Xp22.3 and review the correlation between genotype and stature in six cases of partial monosom...
متن کاملSex reversal in a child with a 46,X,Yp+ karyotype: support for the existence of a gene(s), located in distal Xp, involved in testis formation.
We report on a sex reversed Japanese child with a 46,X,Yp+ karyotype, minor dysmorphic features, and no testicular development. The Yp+ chromosome was derived by translocation of an Xp fragment (Xp21-Xp22.3) to Yp11.3. This has resulted in deletion of distal part of the Y chromosome pseudoautosomal region (DXYS15-telomere) and duplication of the X specific region (DXS84-PABX) and proximal part ...
متن کاملXp pseudoautosomal gene haploinsufficiency and linear growth deficiency in three girls with chromosome Xp22;Yq11 translocation.
Colony stimulating factor-2 receptor alpha (CSF2RA) and interleukin-3 receptor alpha (IL3RA), two genes from the chromosome Xp and Yp pseudoautosomal region (PAR), have been suggested as candidate genes for short stature in Turner syndrome. We report three girls with X;Y translocation (46,X,der(X)t(X;Y)(p22;q11) initially detected by amniocentesis. The terminal portion of the X chromosome dista...
متن کاملA gene spans the pseudoautosomal boundary in mice.
The X and Y chromosomes of the mouse, like those of other mammals, are heteromorphic over most of their length, but at the distal ends of the chromosomes is a region of sequence identity, the pseudoautosomal region (PAR), where the chromosomes pair and recombine during male meiosis. The point at which the PAR diverges into X- and Y-specific sequences is called the pseudoautosomal boundary. We h...
متن کاملSimultaneous Occurrence of Turner Syndrome and Robertsonian Translocation in a Girl with Short Stature: A Case Report
Short stature is an important clinical feature of Turner syndrome (TS). In this report, a girl with short stature suspected to have Turner syndrome underwent cytogenetic analysis, which confirmd Turner syndrome by observing sex chromosomal monosomy using the karyotype test. In addition to Turner syndrome, Robertsonian (ROB) translocation t(13;14) was detected. As recommended by a genetic counse...
